Kovalchuk was born in the area in Vinitskii s.Volodeevke. 1962 - Enrolled in the College of Yenakiyevo where he specialized in technical equipment designer. 1970 - Study on the art-graphic faculty of the Odessa Pedagogical University after graduating, more than 20 years working in the Art Fund. 1980 - Start of exhibition activities. 1980 hudonikov became interested in watercolor painting (1985 - exhibition of watercolors in Moscow 1991 - exhibition in Japan, and others.) 1981 - Fifth All-Ukrainian exhibition of watercolors, in Kiev. 1984 - The Sixth All-Ukrainian exhibition of watercolors in Kiev. 1984 - Seventh All-Union Exhibition of watercolors, in Baku. 1984 - All-Union exhibition "Land and People" in Moscow. 1991 - The exhibition "Glory and Modernity of Odessa," in g.Yokogama, Japan. 1986 - Accession to the Union of Artists of Ukraine. 1987 - Accession to the Union of Designers of Ukraine. 1987 - The Eighth All-Union Exhibition of watercolors, in Leningrad. 1990 - The Ninth All-Union Exhibition of watercolors, in Moscow. 1990 - The artist became interested in oil painting, his works continue to zhivopistnye domestic realistic tradition, close to folk art, full of warm and relaxing colors. 1990s headed the Arts Foundation, was chosen executive secretary and deputy head of the Odessa Regional National Union of Artists of Ukraine. 2000s (the last years of his life) - worked at the Odessa Literary Museum.
