A Ukrainian artist. Born in Blagoveshchensk, Russia. He graduated from Odessa Art School of Grekov (1977), his teachers were D. Egorov, G. Lyekareva, M. Holyushev. Participant of republican and all-union exhibitions since 1977. Member of the National Union of Artists since 1985. Painter, master of genre compositions, landscapes, still lives. He lives and works in Odessa. His works are kept in the museum and private collections of Ukraine.

Valentin Altanietz (1936 - 2000) - the "Magician of Light"
Born in 1936 in Krivoi Rog, Ukraine. Graduated from the Odessa Fine Art College.
Took active part in the so called non-conformist exhibitions in the 1970s. Later participated in national and international exhibitions.
His works hang in the prestigious Odessa Art Museum and Gallery and in private collections worldwide.
Died in Odessa in 2000.

Member of the National Union of Artists since 1960, honored artist of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic since 1974. Ukrainian artist, graphic artist, an iconic figure of the Odessa underground of 1960-1970’s.
He was born on January 24, 1943 in Odessa. Since 1958 he was a permanent participant of regional exhibitions in Odessa. He studied at the Odessa Art School in the 1960s. His teachers were N. Zaitsev, Y. Egorov, N.Pavlyuk , T.Fraerman. He led the art group "9" in the 1970s, also he was the organizer and active participant in the "apartment" and street ("fence") exhibitions. Khrushch and S.Sychov held the first in the USSR unauthorized outdoor exhibition of avant-garde in 1963. He participated in the exhibition "Contemporary Art of Ukraine" (Munich -London- Paris-New York) in 1979. He moved to Moscow in 1981. Artist was an active member of the Creative Union of Artists "Jakimanka", where he made 9 exhibitions during the 1981-1983 periods. Artist was invited to organize the exhibition hall of Cheryomushki district in Moscow in Belyaevo in 1984; except his works, works of Y.Pliss, S.Alferov, A. Sobolev, K. Medvedeva, A. Lisowskiy were exhibited. Khrushch with "Belyaiev group" held a number of exhibitions, including in the city of Linz (Austria), in Panevezys (Lithuania). Fifteen solo exhibitions of artist were held during 1981-2002 (Moscow, Odessa, Kimri, Dubna). Since 1995 - he lived and worked in Kimry (Tver region). Artist`s works are on permanent display at UNESCO in Paris, the National Museum of Austria (Vienna), the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Odessa Art Museum, other museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.

Vyacheslav Vasilevich Tokarev (1917 - ?). Born in Tula pr. in 1917. Studied at Ryazan Art College 1934-38; INSTITUTE OF PAINTING, SCULPTURE AND ARCHITECTURE/REPIN INSTITUTE 1939-48. Member of the USSR UNion of Artists. Merited Artist of Ukraine SSR. Active in Odessa, Ukraine. Began exhibitiong in 1948. Taught at Odessa Art College 1949-55. His paintings hang in numerous major museums of Russia, Ukraine and other CIS states.

Received art education at the Leningrad Institution of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. E. Repin (Department of Painting, 1956–1962) and at the creative workshops under the Presidium of the Academy of Arts.
His creative career started in the 1960s. Since 1964 Filipenko was a regular participant of international, All-Union, All-Ukrainian and regional exhibitions. Since 1962 he worked as a teacher of painting and composition at the art and graphics department of the Odessa State Pedagogical Institute named after Ushinskiy; from 1995 to 2003 he worked as a teacher at the Faculty of Painting at Shandang Pedagogical University, China. Member of the Union of Artists (1970), Professor of Shandang Pedagogical University, China (1997), professor of South-Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Ushinskiy (2008). Member of the Union of Artists since 1970. Honored Artist of Ukraine (1995).

Specialized in portraits, gebre paintings. Well-known works include "Svetlana Shipunova, an Outstanding Student" (1950, Kiev Museum of Ukrainian Art); "A Nurse", 1955, Kiev Museum of Ukrainian Art, "My Thoughts", 1959-60, Kiev Museum of Ukrainian Art. Became a Soviet academician 1958. Awarded title "People's Artist of the USSR" 1963. Leading Ukrainian realist. Active in Odessa, Ukraine.
